Our intentions upon receiving Ramadān

Shaykh al-Habib ‘Umar bin Hafīz hafizu Llah was asked:

What should our intentions be upon receiving Ramadān?

Shaykh al-Habīb’s (hafizu Llah) reply was:

1. We intend to please Allāh ﷻ and companionship of His Chosen One ﷺ.
2. Attaining good deeds from Allah ﷻ.
3. Sincere du’ā for the uplifting (of evils) and rescuing of the Muslims, for this is the period (Ramadān) of Badr and the opening of Makkah.
4. That our state with Allāh ﷻ is good.
5. That an eternal connection is made with Allāh ﷻ.
