The only life is the life of the lovers, those whose utmost joy was in the love of the Beloved of Allah ﷺ.

One of them said when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) died: “O Allah, blind me so that I see no-one after having seen Your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)” – so that I would not become frustrated at being denied the vision of his light.

This love affected their states, their words and their deeds. The Prophet ﷺ left them in a state of love.

Look at the state of the Companions in Madinah when they heard the news of his death. Look at the strength of their connection to him and look at what the Ummah has lost! Some were silent, unable to speak. Some sat down and were unable to stand. Others were unable to think straight upon hearing the news.

Then Allah made them firm and calmed them. He sent down tranquillity upon them, so that they could then follow his teachings and Sunnah which he left for those that would come after him.

Truly he left us on the clearest of paths.
