On Seeing Allah and Prophet Muhammad (salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam):

Someone from al-Bahansa once said to me, “Shaykh Abu’l ‘Abbas [al-Mursi] once came to us and said, ‘I am now twenty-five years old, and never has the vision of God been concealed from me for so much as the twinkling of an eye.’ Then he was absent from us for fifteen years, after which he came to us again and said, ‘I am now forty years old, and never has the vision of God been concealed from me for so much as the twinkling of an eye.’ One day he said, “Verily, if the vision of the Messenger of God (salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) were concealed from me for as much as the twinkling of an eye, I would not consider myself a Muslim!

The Shaykh laughed, then said, “By God, the only person whose hand I have ever shaken with this hand is the Messenger of God (salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)!”
